Systems Engineering Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET) - Units 3 and 4*

Our Systems Engineering Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET) are written by experienced VCE teachers, who are also VCE Exam Assessors. These tasks are available exclusively to schools and are available in electronic or hardcopy format. A variety of tasks are available for both Unit 3 and Unit 4.

Students are not permitted to order these tasks.

The System Engineering Arts Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET) are offered to schools copyright free for the restricted use of students of that school only.

TSSM's Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET) are designed to target the key areas of the Study Design for Systems Engineering. These tasks are a valuable resource with which to assess the coursework components of Unit 3 and 4 Systems Engineering. All tasks are supplied with full solutions.

Targeted Evaluation Tasks for Systems Engineering have been prepared for both Units 3 and 4. The following packages are available to schools:

Unit 3 Package includes 3 tasks -

Outcome 2 for Area of Study 2 (Three options included):

1. A short written report in the form of a media analysis
2. A short written report based on structured questions
3. A multimedia/simulation presentation or report with An Oral Presentation

Unit 4 Package includes 3 tasks -

Outcome 2 for Area of Study 2 (Three options included):

1. A written report in the form of a case study
2. A short written report based on structured questions
3. A multimedia/simulation presentation or report with An Oral Presentation

Unit 3&4 Package includes 8 tasks -

Unit 3 Outcome 1 Criteria 1-3 for Area of Study 1 (Three options included):

1. A record of Investigation of a problem/situation/opportunity/need and develop a design brief for an integrated controlled system including evaluation criteria
2. Researching, devising, designing and modelling design options
3. Planning the creation of the system to include timelines, sequencing and safety and risk assessment.

Unit 4 Outcome 1 Criteria 4-8 for Area of Study 1 (Five options included):

1. Completion of production work record accompanied by a record of systems concepts and principles, safe use of tools, equipment and machines
2. Completion of production work record of an integrated controlled system that addresses the context, considerations and constraints of the design brief and as described in the work plan with documented modifications
3. A record of diagnostic testing and performance data.
4. Project management
5. A report that evaluates and suggests improvements to the system with reference to the factors that influenced its creation and to the student’s use of the systems engineering process.

These tasks provide teachers with a degree of flexiblity when setting assessment tasks for their students. While TSSM thoroughly checks the accuracy and relevance of these Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET), prior to assessing students, it is the individual school's responsibility to ensure that these are an appropriate form of assessment.

*Unit 3 Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET) will be released on February 6, 2025 and Unit 4 will be released on May 29, 2025. Orders made in advance are welcome.
